| Every music lover, musician, and DJ has a way of aligning themselves to
the music that surrounds and influences them. Everyone has favorite tracks
and artists that forever accompany them: tracks that recall individual memories
and influence lives. In the best examples, this turns into a passion for
music that is challenging, diverse, and sets new boundaries. |
|
| |
| For the second [re:jazz] release, Jan Hagenkoetter, Namé Leonhard-Vaughn,
and Matthias Vogt have chosen music that fulfils this criteria. |
| |
| "We present this music from our very own [re:jazz] point of view."
is how Matthias Vogt, arranger, keyboarder, bandleader, and mastermind of
[re:jazz] explains the title to us. "The very first moment you start
playing the piano, you get rid of all the electronic devices from the original
version. What remains is the song." |
| |
| The background is the club sound of the late eighties and nineties. It
is about diversity instead of simplicity. This is why you find songs on
[re:jazz] Point Of View which have their origins in various music styles
from drum & bass to pop. |
| |
| Let's say this release is a combination of both "reminiscence"
and "fresh interpretation" which leads us to the [re:jazz] style
of jazz. |
| |
| Matthias Vogt, his trio, and "his [re:jazz]- voice" Inga Lühning,
get back into the studio with special guests including: Viktoria Tolstoy,
Nils Petter Molvaer, Jhelisa Anderson, Lisa Bassenge, Ultra Naté,
Nils Wogram, TokTokTok, and others to welcome electronic club hits into
the world of jazz. |
| |
| The songs and the guest musicians are connected to both Matthias and INFRACom!
by a personal story that swings along with the music. |
| |
| some quotes : |
| |
| Rainer Trüby (Compost):Great album! I have been listening to it
for weeks in my car and it doesn¹t get boring, not a bit, super! |
| |
| Patrick Forge (Kiss FM/UK): Buggin' out over Jhelisa's 'Inner City
Life', she's the one, every time, leaves me breathless. |
| |
| Nicola Conte (Blue Note / Italy): It's truly an amazing album..some
tunes are really outstanding.. all the vocalists are so great and the arrangments
very inspired..i really dig the rhytm section, the way they shift from one
style to the other is so cool. It would be useless to say which songs i
prefer as it's the whole concept and the whole album that stands out as
a work of art. |
| |
| Jazzanova (Jürgen von Knoblauch): Twisted and Inner City Life are
my my faves of this great concept |
| |
| Michael Reinboth (Compost): Modern timeles Jazz, without any aftertaste
and freed from the instructions of the stylepolice. |
| |
| Michael Rütten (Soulpatrol): Point of View - favourites in new
very respectful interpretations. Adult listening and at the same time a
successful hommage. |
| |
| Andreas Saag (Swell Session/Sweden): It's really great!!!’Push
Push and That Night especially sounds wicked! And Inner City Life'! [re:jazz]
is one of the coolest projects |
| |
| Toshio Matsuura (Tokyo): You can enjoy the sounds full of producer's
affection even without knowing the original track |
